Sandra Bullock, who recently donated $1 million to the relief efforts in Haiti, has teamed up with Coach to benefit another one of her favorite charities: the Beauty Bus Foundation.
The Beauty Bus Foundation is a non profit organization that is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for home-bound, terminally or chronically ill patients and their caregivers. “We provide in-home beauty and grooming treatments, free of charge, to empower our clients, help them maintain dignity and give them respite during a difficult time. Our mission is to reach out to these compromised and isolated individuals and bring beauty into their lives in the comfort of their homes.”

Classic Chanel. This season, the legendary Karl Lagerfeld actually seemed to move away from the signature details that this house is known for. Little black dress? Nope. Gold chains and braid? Didn’t see them. This confectionery colored collection had variations of the iconic Chanel suit of course, but with unexpected silver lame, liquid silver and silver leather details instead. Look upon look came down the runway like the frosted tops of cupcakes, right to the poufy retro-style bouffants. Dresses were lighter than air silk, draped or jeweled. While I found most of the show absolutely beautiful, I had to admit, some silhouettes were not very flattering to many bodies.
Favorite look? I loved the cape of handmade silk roses (about 35 o00, give or take a few!)
The bags? Hmm, for this particular presentation, the models didn’t carry any. At this level of luxury, why be distracted by anything else?
The fiery Miu Miu Bobo Bag is truly stunning, and more than worthy of its hefty price tag. Boasting a soft, classic, rounded shape and a jolting red hue, this purse exemplifies everything Miu Miu does best. The rich braided handles are as eye-catching as the immaculate gold hardware and heavily ruched leather. It doesn’t just look good, though – it’s also fashionably functional, featuring several exterior and interior pockets. Who can blame a girl for not being able to stop at just one? Gorgeous!
Feminine, but not without attitude, Miu Miu’s Shopping Bag is both practical and ultra-stylish. It’s got a grab-and-go sensibility – the detachable canvas shoulder strap makes it easy to sling on in a hurry. But it’s as glamorous as a Miu Miu handbag can be, boasting a delicious dark tan shade called Sabbia. The leather is slightly distressed, giving the bag a vintage feel. The interior features a slightly granulated canvas lining in an earthy, natural hue that complements the tan well. No less than six (!!) exterior pockets surround this great purse. They all cinch closed with drawstrings, lending the bag a textured look that adds to its charm.
Yes, pleats! I love how this original pleating technique makes this Miu Miu Pleated Clutch stand out from the sea of cookie-cutter clutches. Of course, it also helps that the purse is made with eye-catching white leather. What you end up with is a metallic frame clutch that is completely artistic and unique. It’s also incredibly graceful yet still hip – like a modern version of a swan. You’ll never want to take your hand off it.
Hole-y cow! This Miu Miu Perforated Sport Tote hits a style home run thanks to its uber-glam gold metallic leather and oh-so-modern perforated details. The mesh-like look of this handbag is totally unpractical (besides its ample size and detachable shoulder strap) for most day-to-day outings, but it delivers a delicious dose of attitude, urban style, and glitz. Take yours out for cocktails with the girls – but make sure they don’t try to steal it!
For every Miu Miu handbag that I drool over, there’s another one that bores me to tears. This Large Suede Tote falls in the latter category. I love suede, but creating a white suede tote is beyond impractical – use it twice and it’ll be filthy. I also dislike the whipstitching on the sides, and the black leather handles and shoulder strap – which are probably meant to give it some hipster edge – just look completely out of place. Not worth the money.
Now here’s a bag that will work for 20-something downtown girls and 50-something ladies who lunch equally. Chloe’s Eddie Leather Shoulder Bag has a classic appeal elevated by modern, fashion-forward details. The taupe leather is shiny and distressed, rather than perfectly polished and smooth, which adds character. The purse also features gold hardware, plus a chunky brass chain link shoulder strap. You could wear this with a Chanel suit, or skinny jeans and a white tank…either way you’ll look sophisticated and stylish.
Proving that you can teach an old handbag new tricks, this Chloe Paddington Capsule Shoulder Bag offers a new spin on the popular Paddington style. Available in slightly distressed-looking charcoal or golden brown leather, the purse bears a heavy gold chain and padlock across the front. I love a little glitz as much as the next person, but the chain’s effect is a little too biker-bar-meets-belly-chain for my tastes. The handbag is also adorned with side buckles and an adjustable shoulder strap. It’s modern, for sure, but there’s something about the forced heavy metal-ness of the bag that just doesn’t resonate with me.
