I’m currently obsessed with zippers. It does seem to be a hot trend right now, and I’m a huge fan of it. I’m usually not a fan of trends because I love being different and doing the complete opposite of what everyone else is doing. I mean face it, what fun is it if everyone else has the same things as you do? You’ll just look like everyone else when you walk out your door, but the zipper trend is just too fabulous to pass up. At the moment I own zipper earrings, leggings, and shoes. I love fashion that is edgy and I think zippers could be classified as edgy.

When I first saw the Marc by Marc Jacobs “Flash Leola” Leather Hobo I instantly fell in love. I wasn’t a fan of the color, but it’s definitely a handbag I would wear non-stop. The bag does have an architectural feel to it with all the zippers going in different directions.

The hobo is beautiful, but I think it would look way better in black or white. The bag kind of loses it’s edginess to it with it being in bright blue. Zippers look more fashionable when they are paired up with neutral colors, but of course that’s just my opinion. If this bag does become available in a less vibrant color I’ll probably consider purchasing it!

  Imitation the sincerest form of flattery? Marc Jacobs doesn’t think so and is suing Christian Audigier’s Nervous Tattoo, Inc. for trade dress and trademark infringement over a purse designs.

Marc Jacobs has a pending application for it’s random “Marc Jacobs” scrambled trademark. The scramble trademark is what makes up the inside lining of the “Pretty Nylon” Tote. And the “size, shape, color or color combination, product design, texture, and selection and arrangement of materials and accessories” make up it’s trade dress, which is the image and identity of the “Marc Jacobs Pretty Nylon Tote” for which Marc Jacobs fans around the world associate with it.

  When fellow blogger BRS mentioned the NY Rocker Stam by Marc Jacobs a while back, the majority of the crowd definitely agreed that the infamous Stam looked awesome dressed up in extra sequins and studs. I find this piece absolutely adorable; if the original Stam size is a bit too blingy for your taste, then this size might be the right one for you. The Little Stam carries the same kiss lock closure, wide opening, and chain-linked strap as all its other Stam ancestors do, yet it’s found compact in this miniature model.

   I am really happy to see Bloomingdale’s expand their online handbag inventory. It’s something they’ve been working on and now that their inventory keeps growing we are seeing more and more great bags. And not just any handbags, but designer and highly coveted designer brands – like Marc Jacobs. So, on this dreary South Florida Friday it’s nice to look at a bag with just a hint of color and pizazz.

  You know as well as I do that certain Marc Jacobs bags are completely over the top but still really nice. Then there are others that seem a bit bland and boring. Then there are others, like this Marc Jacobs The Firebird Rio Studded Leather Satchel that combine the previously mentioned elements perfectly.

  The taupe leather satchel has a hint of shine and shimmer to it which really complements the studs wonderfully. While so many people are over studs, when the design and layout of the studs are different, like that on this bag, it’s hard not to give the bag a chance. The double handles (6″ drop) are adorned with gold-tone hardware which also looks really nice with the studding. Personally, I’d let the shoulder strap hang off of the bag and carry the bag primarily with the double handles. All in all this is a nice bag from Marc Jacobs with just enough sparkle to catch my eye.

Perhaps the most famous (not to mention most recognizable) Marc Jacobs handbag is the Stam. It truly is an iconic piece, making it the perfect cornerstone to any handbag lover’s collection. I think what fascinates me the most about the Marc Jacobs Stam is how it can be reinvented again and again without ever missing a beat. It certainly is a bag of many faces, each of which is beautiful in its own way. With so many exciting versions to choose from, you can probably imagine my excitement when I learned that a new Marc Jacobs Stam would be joining the club.
From the Spring/Summer 2010 Collection, I present to you the Marc Jacobs NY Rocker Stam! This sequin-covered satchel simply screams glamor! I really like how blue and silver sequins were used to create a pattern that somewhat resembles those splattered paint designs that were popular in the 1980s and 1990s. Very retro-chic! This bag also features pyramid studs near the top of the bag and a new slimmer version of the classic kiss-lock closure.    I’m not sure what I love most about the chic Marc by Marc Jacobs Slouchy Leather Hobo: that it’s such a sensation and designed by one of my all-time favorites; that it’s a gorgeous shade of regal purple; or that it’s so roomy and practical, it can be carried just about anywhere. Perhaps in addition to all that, it’s simply the fact that it’s so well constructed and reasonably priced, all things considered. Given that space is such a big concern of mine, I’m always likely to splurge on a purse that offers plenty – and clearly, this does. The perforated inset adds a little intrigue to an otherwise simple design. It’s just enough to be interesting without taking away from its inherent downtown cool-meets-elegant look.
