Easily one of my favorites of the moment, the Maiden Quilted Bag by Marc Jacobs is a great example of sensible elegance.     Marc Jacobs was born in New York city on April 9, 1963. He attended Parsons School of Design in NYC and won the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award in 1984. He was also rewarded Chester Weinberg Gold Thimble Award and the Design Student of the Year at the same year.

   It is just not for me. The glistening purple or fuchsia leather with the glitter stud details seems more suited for a tween than myself. Or maybe I am just not cool enough to wear it? The Marc Jacobs Glitter Shoulder Bag rocks out the vibrant hues on this bag that was spotted in the Marc Jacobs ad campaign. This bag offers more of a punk feel than other Marc Jacobs bags. There have been other studded bags from MJ that I have adored, but this is just not cutting it for me. There are two shoulder straps for carrying and the handbag is big, boisterous, and bold. Not for me, but is it for you?

   Trying to find last minute holiday gifts? Who else out there did not really start their shopping yet? My hand is raised way up high. Holiday shopping is hard for me. I don’t like giving gifts that will become another dust collector. As we grow older, many stocking stuffer gifts end up being impractical and eventual dust collectors or garbage can fillers.    The Stella gets bigger, but is it better? I’m going with no. The style looks awkward at such a large size and the gold hardware is growing tired. Available in black, olive and plum, the combination with the latter is especially garish. The bag is big enough to pack magazines, a laptop and then some, and the messenger strap makes it functional for city life.

Supersize pics review …

    Nothing new here. Metallics are once again in prime position for spring, and this Marc Jacobs Eve Metallic Leather Shopper capitalizes on it big time. With plenty of room and a glint so blinding it’s probably visible from space, this tote is no more practical than, say, a tinfoil hat. The glittering stones lined up at the top are just barely discernible against the brilliant silver calfskin. It’s one of those “why bother?” bags that I find a little dull.

   The good news? This Marc by Marc Jacobs Tote-ally Photo Tote is only $148. The bad news? I’m not sure if that’s enough to convince me to take the bait. I adore my Marc Jacobs, and I’ll give him props for a clever faux-embroidered logo design, but this purse lacks the excitement and energy of his classics. I think the somewhat blah, chalky color might be to blame. The purse itself just doesn’t wow me on its own merit - but perhaps it would work if styled properly with a fabulous outfit. I’m keeping an open mind…but I’m also keeping my wallet closed.

I told you all yesterday that today would be our first day of weekend posts in quite some time. So here I am, posting away. Notice the time delay, it is a weekend, so I wasn’t about to get moving overly fast on today. Today my mind is wandering far from the handbag world, as it is the biggest college football game of The Ohio State University’s year (my, Vlad’s, and Shannon’s Alma mater), The Ohio State vs Michigan game. What I would give to be there now. However I am not, so we have game day on, getting ready to watch the most famed rivalry in college football and I need to somehow tie this together to purses.

And I can do that by deciding on a great handbag to take to an Ohio State football game. I am not a huge fan of light silver metallic colors, a bit too South Beach for me, a bit too glitz and glam. I already know what many of you will say, it is too nice to take to a football game. I think not. I protect my bags at football games and always take a bag that is one of the colors of the teams I am cheering on. I talked about the sister of this bag, the Marc Jacobs Quilted Jersey Tote, which is only $400 less than this bag. And in my deduction, that means that this leather version is much more worth the price tag. The front bow tie accents are what I love about this bag, it adds a feminine touch. There is an interior zip and cell phone pockets. I am not claiming that I love this bag, not claiming that I am going out to buy it, not even claiming that it is all that great, but for an Ohio State game it would look smashing with my Scarlett jersey!
